Runs a set of Windows commands which enable the DreamScene function that Microsoft decided has hidden form its users. Requires administrator privileges for the operating system.
Dreamscene Activator is a portable app that will activate DreamScene in Windows 7.
Windows DreamScene is one of the Windows Ultimate Extras that was offered with Windows Vista. It allows to use videos and animations as desktop wallpapers.
DreamScene Activator will let you use this feature by copying the appropriate components to the right directories: It will copy DreamScene.dll to %WinDir%\System32 and DreamScene.dll.mui to %WinDir%\System32\en-US. You will need to run this program as an Administrator, otherwise it will not be able to copy files to the system´s folders. The program has two buttons, one to enable DreamScene and the other one to disable it. You may probably get an unhandled exception message when trying to activate DreamScene. Simply ignore it, the program will still work.
In order to use DreamScene in Windows 7, you have to right click on a video and choose the "Set as desktop background" option. Then, when the video is being played on your desktop, you can pause or play it by right-clicking on it.
DreamScene will only work if you have selected the Windows Aero Scheme in Windows 7. You will only be able to activate this scheme if you have a compatible video card.
